YOUR PET ON OUR "STUFF"

TIPS FOR GREAT PET PHOTOS

1.  DON'T TRY TO POSE YOUR PET.  THE BEST SHOTS ARE THE ONES WHERE YOU CATCH THEM IN SOME NATURAL POSE OR     ACTIVITY.  THE MORE YOU TRY TO GET THEM INTO SOME KIND OF POSE, THE MORE THEY WILL RESIST YOU AND YOU WILL BOTH END UP FRUSTRATED.

2. USE TREATS, TOYS AND FUNNY NOISES TO GET EXPRESSIONS.  EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT THINGS TO TRY TO GET REACTIONS FROM YOUR PET LIKE HOLDING THEIR EARS UP OR TILTING THEIR HEAD. SOMETIMES JUST SAYING A CERTAIN WORD LIKE "RIDE" OR "COOKIE" CAN GET A REACTION. A HIGH PITCHED NOISE WILL USUALLY GET A HEAD TILT FROM MOST DOGS.

3. TRY TO TAKE YOUR PICTURES OUTDOORS IN NATURAL LIGHT. THIS WILL ELIMINATE THE DREADED RED EYE. IF YOU ARE INDOORS AND USING A FLASH, TRY NOT TO TAKE THE PICTURE FROM DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE ANIMAL. WITH MOST OF THE PHOTO EDITING PROGRAMS, YOU CAN REMOVE THE RED EYE FAIRLY EASILY.

4. GET DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL OR BRING THEM UP TO YOURS. PICTURES TAKEN LOOKING DOWN AT THE PET ARE USUALLY NOT VERY FLATTERING.  IF YOU HAVE A SMALL DOG OR A CAT, PUT THEM UP ON SOMETHING. FOR LARGE DOGS, SIT DOWN IN A CHAIR OF EVEN ON THE FLOOR.

5. TAKE LOTS OF SHOTS. WITH THE DIGITAL CAMERAS NOW, YOU CAN JUST DELETE THE ONES YOU DON'T LIKE AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WASTING FILM. THE MORE PICTURES YOU TAKE, THE BETTER YOUR CHANCES OF CATCHING A GREAT SHOT. AND REMEMBER TO SAVE THE ONES YOU WANT TO KEEP SOMEWHERE BEFORE REFORMATTING YOUR DIGITAL CARD. CREATE AN ALBUM IN YOUR COMPUTER FOR YOUR PET'S PICTURES. AFTER ALL, HE'S PART OF THE FAMILY TOO.
